This building brings back many good memories for me. I went to kindergarden when the school was located next door to the library, and it was where I got my first library card back in 1960 something or was it 1970 something. I also have fond memories of one of the Librarians, MS Rowena Mixon., she was always helpful to the kids that really loved to read.
The museum not only holds many historical artifacts – IT IS ONE!
The building started life in 1929 as the Fort Lupton Library, open to the public, Grade school, which was located next door, and the High School.
When the present High school was built in 1976 with a library attached, the library building stood empty. Over the years, a Sheriff’s sub-station had its home here along with a license bureau, Boy Scouts meeting place, the Senior Center, the Recreation Center, the Red Cross Relief Committee. Dance classes and Sunday school classes took place here too!
People will need to prove that they were at the museum by answering the following questions.
Answers must be emailed or messaged to me in order to receive credit for the find. Please don't post your answers in the log. Any incorrectly logged finds will be deleted.
1.) At the posted coordinates in the front of the building, is an early 1900 Garden plow. Take a picture of yourself at the plow (the picture can be of you (face not required) or a personal item if you don't want to be in it, such as a trackable or paper with your cache handle written on it), to acknowledge your visit.
2.) There are two plaques on the front of the museum, subtract the years for your answer.
3.) Also in front of the museum is a flagstone sign, write the numbers down in reverse order.
4.) As you walk around the building, there is a concrete marker in one of the flower beds, what does the marker say.
All questions can be answered with out a need to go inside the museum, if the museum is open when you visit, feel free to look around.
There is handicapped parking on the west side of the building along with the elevator to obtain entrance to the museum, along with the stairs at the south side.
It is free to visit the museum.
