Geocache Description:

Welcome to Utah's Celebration of Life Monument!

The Celebration of Life Monument is a glass wall honoring those who have aided others through organ, tissue, or blood donations.  It is located in the southeast corner of Library Square on the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.  The surrounding area includes a fountain and statues showing organ and tissue recipients enjoying activites and the life those donations afforded them.

The monument was erected in 2004 as a memorial and tribute to both living and deceased Utahns who have donated organs or tissues for transplant or research.  It also recognizes those who have donated at least ten gallons (80 donations) of blood products.

Each year the names of those who have given the gift of life or helped enhance the lives of others are added to the monument.  In 2009 there were 3,285 names displayed on the momument with approximately 300 being added each year.  By 2019, the list of list had grown to 8,236 names with about 500 new donors being added per year.

In 2013-2014 the monument was completely redesigned to repair structural issues and allow for more space for names.

The momument is open year-round and can be visited any time of day, though daylight hours are highly recommended.

If you would like to view the names on the plaque or find the location of a particular name, you can do so here.

Logging Requirements:
There are three requirements to log this cache.  Please read and follow the instructions carefully.  Failure to do so will result in your log being deleted.  Please send in your answers and add your picture in your log within a reasonable time after logging the cache (within 48 hours.)

If you visit with a group, each person/geocaching account must send an individual email with the answers - no group emails.  Each person must also post the required picture in their own log. Each person of their item must be in a picture. (No using one person/item for multiple accounts.)
Do not post any answers in your log.  Logs containing any answers will be deleted.

For requirements 1 & 2, send me a message or email with the answers.
Requirement 1: What does the fountain symbolize according to the plaque?
Requirement 2: What is one of the quotes on the base of the statue of the children doing cartwheels?

Requirement 3: In your "Found it" log, post a picture of yourself standing by either the monument (the glass wall with engraved names) or the Celebration of Life Monument sign at the southeast corner of the block (the sign in the background image of the cache page.)

If you do not want to post a picture of yourself, you may take a picture at one of the listed locations with a unique, easily-identifiable item (such as paper with your geocaching name, a personal item, etc. Geocaching items are preferred but not required.)

Thanks for visiting.
