This is a beautiful spot for a fairly easy walk in the historic town of Jacksonville, Oregon. Here is a link to a PDF of the Brochure that will give you a good sense of the history of this pioneer town and some of the charaters that lived out their lives here.
The only requirement to log this virtual is to post a creative photo from your visit to this Virtual Rewards 3.0 Cache. For example, this can be of any of the 12 items described in the brochure. Your photo can be as simple as the Sexton’s Tool House, (#1) or the Bilger Monument, (#9). Or you can come up with your own photo relating to one of the 11 pioneers described in the brochure. It can even be something similar from anywhere inside the grounds, something that just shows you were there on the hill when you took the photo.
This link is to the website of the volunteers that maintain this historic public property. Access is easy as the grounds are open 8:00 a.m. to sunset 365 days of the year. Here is another informational link that goes to the Town of Jacksonville page listing some basic rules and regulations, most of which is common sense stuff like dogs on leashes and picked up after. However, there are a few simple things unique to the location, so a review of the page is recommended before going.
I like to park at the bottom of the hill near the entrance and walk up to the grounds. However, there is some limited parking at the top if the climb up the road looks like too much.
Enjoy your walk in this peaceful location. There are also a couple of close-by caches ready to be found, just outside the grounds.
