This community project and public space has intrigued all who have explored it. Created by skilled and unskilled artists alike with recognized input from aboriginal groups the curvaceous terracotta clay Ceramic Mural with its colonnades, cave seats, "thongaphones" and amphitheater invites the curious to explore its many features.
Much of the ceramic work was completed by local artist Judy Lorraine and was begun in 1983 with funding from the Australia Council Community Arts Board. The mural evokes the structures and spaces created by the celebrated Spanish artist Antoni Gaudí.
Opened in 2010 following 27 years of growth, it will never stop amazing, take the time to stop and explore.

Back in the early days of caching the late great Dak’s Emu Mob had a series of virtual caches which focussed on public art and people’s response to said art called, “Yes, but is it art”
The following is an excerpt from one of Dak’s cache descriptions.
“To some, a public sculpture may indeed be a magnificent and valued piece of art; to others the response may be----
WHAT THE . . . ? ”
Perhaps this may be your response as well!!

In my opinion this sculpture brings to mind the graphics usually found in “Dr Seuss” books.
I would like your opinion!
In order to log this cache I’m proposing the following:
- 1.Take a seat on one the seats provided,(West side), take a foot selfie, with the Gallery, across the waters in the background. (Not the sculpture---The Gallery!!)
- 2. Upload said selfie with your log.
- 3. Write at least part of your log in “Dr Seuss” style rhyme.
