WARNING: Depending on how your access this cache, there could be extreme danger invovled. Know your limitations!
You can access this viritual cache in one of four ways...
- In the winter you can (at your own risk, and it is risky...) walk, ski, bike or snowshoe across Portage Lake on the ice. Do not get too close to the glacier... It still calves in the winter.
- In the summer, you can take a 1 hour ride on the M/V Ptarmigan to the face of the glacier. It's well worth the cost!
- Spring, fall or summer you can bring your kayak out on the lake. Again, be careful...
- And a fourth option: hike the Portage Pass Trail from Whittier to the edge of Portage Lake and take the picture from the lake shore.
To log this cache, you need to post a picture of yourself with the glacier in the background. If you are on the M/V Ptarmagin, the crew is also willing to help with a picture.
