The Michigan Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument was erected in downtown Detroit to honor the 90,000 Michigan troops who fought for the Union in the Civil War and to memorialize the 14,823 who never returned home. It currently stands in Campus Martius Park. More information about the monument can be found on the Detroit Historical Society website.
The monument is available 24/7. Street parking may be challenging during the work day and other high-traffic times. If you plan to use street parking, download the ParkDetroit app to facilitate easier payment. If street parking is full, you’ll find coordinates and descriptions for three possible parking lots/garages in the additional waypoints.

There you will find a prominent blue sign about the celebrated Iron Brigade. Step around to the other side of the sign and tell me which unit is highlighted there. A reference point is available in the waypoints below for your convenience.
