Geocache Description:

To log this cache, you must include in your log a photo of the falls with you (or an item unique to you, like your hand or your GPSr). The photo may be from any of the several viewpoints at the top or bottom of the falls, as long as the falls are visible in the picture. Logs not meeting this requirement will be deleted. There are other viewpoints listed as waypoints on this cache, any of them are fine for the photo.

There is no need to send a message or an email for this cache - just add your photo to your log. That's it!

Snoqualmie Falls is one of the premier natural attractions in the state of Washington. This 268 foot high waterfall is the ancient home of the Snoqualmie tribe of Native Americans, for whom it holds significant cultural and spiritual meanings. The Tribe recently purchased the property, including the Falls, the Salish Lodge and additional property nearby.

The Falls are unusual in that they have an underground power plant. Water is diverted from above the falls underground to the power plant, and exits back into the river at the bottom. There are actually two power plants - the underground one (built in 1899) which is not visible, and a second one (built in 1910) visible from the lower parking area.

The flow on the falls varies greatly depending on the season. The winter rains, and especially during floods, really get the falls roaring. In the summer it is more restrained but still photo-worthy.

Access: there are four listed view waypoints on this cache. These are all just different viewpoints, and any are acceptable for a photo. Waypoint BB is the same as the posted coordinates. Waypoints AA, BB, and CC are all wheelchair accessible from the main (free) parking lot (waypoint P1), although CC is steeper and further. There is free ADA parking in the pay lot (waypoint P2), which is much closer to the view. Waypoint DD is at the bottom of the falls. You get there either by walking down a steep path, or driving down to the bottom parking lot (waypoint P3). Either way you walk out the boardwalk to the end.
