Geocache Description:

This virtual will bring you to a beautiful small cemetery that lays tribute to the soldiers and pioneers who are buried here.

In 1822, a war veteran and boat builder from Pittsburgh named Peter Shouse purchased land from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in order to operate his own boatyard.  This business venture grew and brought many workers to the region which resulted in Peter establishing the new community of Shousetown.

As the community grew, a petition request was granted to separate the Shousetown area into a new municipality. Because this area was comprised of a small portion of Moon Township, the new township was named Crescent Township.

Logging Requirements:

You can choose between posting a unique photo of yourself or a personal item at the gate OR alternatively messaging me answers for the following three questions:

  • What was the name the soldier who fought in the Battle of The Argonne?
  • How many people are buried here?
  • What year was the flagpole erected?
