Geocache Description:

The late Archie Roach, indigenous singer, songwriter and author, is best known for his song about the Stolen Generation 'Took the Children Away'. His connection to the Riverland began through his musical and life partner, Ruby Hunter, who was born near Renmark.  Both are part of the Stolen Generation, were advocates for Aboriginal people, fostered children and shared their stories through their music.  They performed here in Barmera at the Bonney Theatre during The Riverland Country Music Festival and lived in the region for some time.  You can find out more about Archie and Ruby by scanning the QR codes on the plaques of the memorial.  To commemorate your visit share any connection you have with Archie and/or Ruby and take a photo of you, your GPS or your Geo-Mascot with a part of the memorial.  Enjoy your visit to this special place.
