Geocache Description:

A funny, funny man, gone too soon...

John Pinette was an actor, and stand-up comedian. He is remembered for his many notable impersonations during his comedy routines, including The Chipmunks, Elvis Presley, the character 'Gollum' from "The Lord of the Rings," Hervé Villechaize (played the character 'Tattoo' on the ABC television show "Fantasy Island"), an Ewok, and actor Marlon Brando (notably Brando's role in "The Godfather,") to name a few. Born John Paul Pinette, in Boston, Massachusetts, he attended the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, Massachusetts, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant but left it to pursue a comedy career. His big break came when he was asked to tour with singer/actor Frank Sinatra. He performed small roles in the films "Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation" (1992), "Junior" (1994), "Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love" (1994), "Dear God" (1996), and "Duets" (2000), and was a regular on the FOX teen sitcom television series "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" that aired from September 1990 to June 1993. In 1998 he starred as the carjack victim in the final episode of the NBC television sitcom "Seinfeld." His other television credits include "ALF" (1990), "Vinnie and Bobby' (1992), and "Hart to Hart" (1995). In 2004 his comedy material was featured in Comedy Central's animated series "Shorties Watchin' Shorties." That same year, he joined the touring cast of the musical "Hairspray" in the role of 'Edna Turnblad' and went on to the Broadway production in 2005 until May 2006. In 2007 he performed at the 42nd annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Jerry Lewis Telethon. He performed at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2008 and beginning in April 2010 toured in cities. During this tour, he recorded a Comedy Central special entitled "John Pinette: Still Hungry" at the Vic Theater in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of the featured comedy acts in the 2012 Ron White's Comedy Salute to the Troops on Country Music Television. Beginning in June 2013 he was the host of "All You Can Eat," a television series on the H2 network that took a humorous look at American cuisine. He suffered from liver and heart disease in his later years and died suddenly on April 5, 2014 of a pulmonary embolism in his hotel room at the age of 50.

John brought enormous love and laughter to everyone around him and is sorely missed.
