Geocache Description:

This is one of my favorite places to visit and to send people, hopefully more Geocachers will come and visit this treasure. Make sure to follow the parking directions, the lot behind the historic sign is private property. Trail is open Dawn to Dusk. Other rules and information can be found on the images posted in the gallery.

A nature preserve whose highlight is a stunning rock formation and waterfall in a cave. It was used by Native Americans as a hideout in the 17th century, and then for weddings in the 19th century. Dover Stone Church's highlight is a metamorphic rock cavern in the shape of a church’s cathedral window with a cascading waterfall through the cave’s interior. The Stone Church Brook, a tributary of the Ten Mile River, flows through and out the cavern entrance.

Directions and Parking Take NYS Route 22 to Dover Plains. Immediately south of the traffic light at Mill Street, look for blue-and-gold historic sign on west side of road for Dover Stone Church. The drive is private, but open for pedestrians; do not take cars up it. According to the Visitor’s Guide (linked elsewhere on this site) parking is permitted at the elementary school across the street when school is not in session; at the Tabor Wing House, 3128 Route 22; and at Four Brothers Restaurant, all within walking distance.

Sorry but this virtual cache is definitely not handicap accessible, there are stairs and it's a hike and stones to walk on. Please wear sturdy shoes. At times of heavy rainfall and flooding it is possible the path may be closed, I will disable if I find out that happens.

In order to log this cache please message or email me the following

1: How many large stepping stones are on the walkway on the way there before they become broken up (you will see what I mean when you get there) There is a picture attached here but not all stones are in it. I know this is a bit subject to interpretation, mostly the picture and combination of the two counting answers will determine to me if you were there.

2: How many planks are on the bridge nearest to the cave going to the other side, don't count the steps going up, see above in italics.

3: Post a picture of yourself(not required) or a personal item (keys, GPS, hat, etc) in front of the cave in your log so I know you were there. No photoshopping.
