Geocache Description:

Stop and take a gander at the latest Pritzker Archives & Memorial Park Center.

At the posted coordiantes look to the East .  Message me with how many Flagpoles there are and any differences between them (other then the flags)?

What is this place?  Here is a brief description.

The  Pritzker Military Archives Center (PMAC) was built in Somers, Wisconsin out of a need for additional archival space to store the collections of Pritzker Military Museum & Library (PMML). Its collection has grown to about 100,000 books, artifacts, and other items due to the overwhelming support of donors and families eager to protect their family’s legacy and stories. The PMAC in Wisconsin will help house some of those materials and support another 20 to 25 years of growth for the organization and its collection.  Along with the archival space, workspace for the Pritzker Military Museum & Library staff will be included for continued curation of the military collection for future exhibits. It will also feature a 9,500 square foot Gallery Center for public viewing.

The Cold War Veterans Memorial is another project to extend the mission of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, by sharing the stories of those who served, from 1945-1991, and will provide a space where both the armed forces and civilians can together understand the past, present and future of the citizen soldier.

Community Green space - A place of reflection requires space and thoughtful design, which is why establishing community green space is of such importance to our plan. The space surrounding our structures will be expertly landscaped, with walking and biking paths, and picnic areas. The green space will surround the Pritzker Military Archives Center and Cold War Veterans Memorial and includes 7,440 linear feet of walking paths. All will be publicly accessible during business hours.

The community space will adhere to best practices in conservation, preserving as much green space as possible by using less than 7% of the entire site for the buildings. Our project will use energy efficient practices including solar panels and rainwater collection/re-use in the facilities. The wetlands will also remain undisturbed.
