Dicey
"Dicey," as it has affectionately come to be known, washed up on the store of Lake Coeur d'Alene near City Park in March of 2017. It was later learned that the die, believed to be an old water tank weighing well over 1,000 lbs, first appeared on the shores of a property along the Coeur d'Alene River near Cataldo, in 2001.
During a period of flooding in 2008, the tank then floated away and washed up at Driftwood Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene. There, it sat for some time before a local property owner decided to spruce it up a bit with some white dots - making it a die.
In 2017, it washed away yet again and appeared on the beach near downtown Coeur d'Alene. No one came forward to claim the die, so the City of Coeur d'Alene took possession of it. The die was removed from the lake and moved a short distance away to a dirt parking log, where the skate park now sits. Three years later it was officially installed at Independence Point, adjacent to City Park, as public art on April 7, 2020.
