You are now standing in front of a "MEDALTARCH". This sculptural legacy celebrates Medicine Hat's Clay Industry and Clay Art.
Set against the dramatic cliffs of the South Saskatchewan River in Medicine Hat Alberta, the 150-acre Historic Clay District is situated on Treaty 7 land and was once home to some of the earliest industry in Western Canada. Today the history of the once-thriving ceramic industry is being revived with the iconic Medalta Potteries National Historic Site.
The Medalta Potteries was a Canadian ceramics manufacturing company in Medicine Hat, Alberta, that operated from 1916 to 1954.
