Geocache Description:

Windmill? Yes, this structure was originally a grist windmill, later converted to the Lighthouse you see today.

Visit the grounds of this red-roofed stone windmill, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. It was the scene, in November 1838, of a bloody turning point in Canadian history.

Imagine the boats of an invading force of American "Hunters" sailing across the river to do battle with British soldiers and local militia in the fight for Upper Canada.

This site of the battle was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1920.

The Friends of Windmill Point open the tower at selected times, for tours, but unfortunately the building itself is usually closed after the summer season. You can, of course, still visit the grounds.

To validate your find, include with your log a unique photo of yourself at the posted coordinates, visiting the Battle of the Windmill Site,  As always, you do not need to include your face in your picture. Logs without the required photo may be deleted.
