Geocache Description:

Whistler Olympic Plaza was called Whistler Medal plaza during the 2010 Winter Games.  The athletes received their medals during nightly victory ceremonies.  During the Games, more than 100 victory ceremonies took place in this Plaza.  This was the first time a Host Mountain Resort community had been given such an honour. Previously, all award presentations occurred only in the host city.

Games related features in this plaza include:

*the Olympic Rings

*the Paralympic Agitos

*the Whistler Cauldron where the flame burned brightly during the games

*the memorial to Nodar Kumaritashvilli (a Georgian luge athlete who suffered a fatal crash during the games)

*the Lil'wat nation and Squamish Nation Olympic Lighting Welcoming Figure

This is a fun family gathering area.  Enjoy the nearby winter skating rink, boutiques, playground, and cafes.  I've even seen a black bear wander onto the grassy area nearby in the Springtime.

Requirements for logging this cache:

1) How many notices are on the rings and what do they say?

2) What colour is beside each notice?

3) Looking north (ish), how many flag poles are in a row?  Can you name the flags!

4) Post a photo of your group at the site.

When you log the cache, message the CO with the answers.  DO NOT post them.  If your answers are incorrect, your post will be deleted.
