Instead of a history themed Virtual geocache, today we have a modern themed Virtual.
The City of Surrey has built an underground pipe network to serve some of the energy requirements for several buildings in the City Centre. As of 2020 there were 19 buildings connected to this district-energy newwork with more planned to be added.
In 2021, 60% of the natural gas used at the West Village Energy Centre is in the form of Renewable Natural Gas that is produced at the Surrey Biofuel Facility located at 9752 192 Street, Surrey.
There is a mandatory connection requirement establised for new developments over a certain size within Surrey City Energy's service area.
The plaza area around the Energy Centre contains several information signs giving visitors more information that you see here. There are many places to sit and enojy the area, a rubber surfaced area for the young to play on where they can learn all about what happens if you sit on a rotating disk that has a definite slope to it.
