Confederation Park 1927 is one of the oldest parks in Regina, Saskatchewan. It was built in 1927 to commemorate the 60th anniversary for the Confederation of Canada. The park was attractively laid out with trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns. A water fountain was constructed in the center of the park at a cost of $6000. It had 18 large sprays, is 20 feet high and has a 50-foot basin. Over the years the park deteriorated and the once beautiful fountain and grounds were left in poor condition and disrepair.
With the construction of new football stadium (Mosaic Stadium) for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the water fountain and park grounds in Confederation Park have been completely refurbished and brought back to its glory days. The park became a new pre-game meeting place for football fans and a peaceful urban oasis for others.

The fountain was reconstructed based on the original 1928 design. The basin has been rebuilt to modern engineering standards. The concrete columns, cast iron upper bowls and wrought iron fence were restored. The missing globe lights and frogs have been replaced. Also, the plumbing and electrical system have been redone to todays standards. It is now a beautiful piece of art to see and admire.

The park grounds were also included in the renewal with restoration of the turf, irrigation system and furnishings that were consistent with the designs of the park when it was originally built. The pathways were replaced and new trees were added. School students helped two local artists to create artistic designs for panels that were placed around utility boxes. The theme is related to Confederation and tells the story of Regina’s role in Confederation. The information written on the walls has been translated into three languages (English, French, & Cree).
