Geocache Description:

I worked on the The Herc (CC130 Hercules) from 1979-83 in Trenton

and the

Auroro (CP-140 Aurora / CP-140A Arcturus) from 1983-1994 in Greenwood.

In 1985 I was the first Airwoman to be

Run-up qualified in the Canadian Armed Forces.

CC130 Hercules

The CC130 Hercules is a fixed-wing aircraft and has 4 turboprop engines. It is capable of short takeoffs and lands on prepared runways and can respond to Search and Rescue (SAR) emergencies on almost any terrain and under the most challenging weather conditions.  Greenwood's CC-130E aircraft are flown by 413 Transport and Rescure Squadron, whose roles are transport, and search and rescue throughout a 1,800,000 square mile area in eastern Canada.

CP-140 Aurora / CP-1401 Arcturus

The Aurora, operated by 404, 405, 407 and 415 Squadrons of the RCAF, supports Canada Command, Canada Expeditionary Forces Command, Candian Special Operations Forces Command, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other Federal Government agencies in a wide variety of roles, including operatons management, maritme and overland intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, anti-submarinI and ant-surface warfare, strike coordination, and search and rescue. It also provides assistance to other government agencies in a wide variety of ways such as combatting illegal fishing, pollution and drug trafficking,
