Geocache Description:

Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport

Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport, IATA: MIR,  is an airport serving Monastir and Sousse areas in Tunisia. The airport is named after the former president Habib Bourguiba, who was born in Monastir.

Tunisia, a gateway between the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea, offers its visitors a unique experience with its lovely scented jasmines, whitewashed houses, 1,200-km coast, and cultural and historical treasures. Turkish TAV a member of Groupe ADV took over (67%) the operation of the airport (+ Efindha Airport) in 2008, TAV holds the right to operate the airport until May 2047. In 2010, Monastir Habib Bourguiba airport was proudly selected the best emerging airport in Africa.

In 2007 served more than 4.27 million passengers, however TAV annual report 2018 shows only 2.5 milion passengers. Due to pandemic, current figures are even lower...

In order to log this virtual cache, attach a picture of your plane OR picture of any plane on runway OR yourself at the airport. Logs without pictures will be deleted without further notice. It would be nice to add into your log information, from which airport are you arriving to/transfering Tunisia (IATA code).
