Vers la fin des années 1930, c'est ici dans ce modeste atelier qu'a été conçue, développée et fabriquée l'Autoneige, un véhicule multi-passagers adapté à l'hiver québécois qui va révolutionner le transport hivernal. Elle va ainsi insuffler un nouvel essor à l'économie régionale, industrielle et forestière en brisant l'isolement des communautés coupées du reste du monde pendant de longs mois. L'autoneige va transformer le transport en commun, le transport de matériaux, les services de la poste, d’ambulance, de sauvetage et le transport des missionnaires dans les régions éloignées du Grand Nord canadien. Elle sert aussi de véhicule pour l’installation et l’entretien des lignes de transmission d’électricité, des lignes de téléphone et dans les sites de prospection et d’exploitation.
Ce n'était que l'embryon d'une compagnie qui connaîtra une croissance fulgurante et deviendra un innovateur majeur dans le domaine des transports récréatifs et commerciaux. D'abord l'invention et le perfectionnement de la motoneige qui obtint un succès populaire instantané. D'autres produits récréatifs furent aussi développés. Les gammes Sea-Doo et Spyder en sont des exemples probants. Ensuite la jeune compagnie se diversifie. Elle s'implique dans la fabrication de wagons de métros et du transport ferroviaire. Par la suite, l'entreprise déploie ses ailes et devient un géant de l'aéronautique, plus particulièrement dans le secteur des avions d'affaires et commerciaux. Ce fleuron québécois est devenu un géant mondial du transport. Il joue dans la cour des grands. Tout cela ne serait pas arrivé sans le travail inventif, acharné et inspiré de J.-Armand Bombardier, un jeune mécanicien talentueux, dans ce modeste atelier.
Afin d'inscrire cette cache Virtuelle comme trouvée vous devrez vous conformer aux deux conditions suivantes:
1- Vous devez prendre une photo de vous-même aux coordonnées affichées avec l'atelier en arrière-plan. Il n'est pas obligatoire qu'on distingue votre visage mais un élément distinctif doit apparaître pour fins d'identification. Si vous êtes plusieurs chacun d'entre vous doit être identifiable. Prenez plusieurs clichés si nécessaire. Annexez les photos à votre rapport.
2- Rendez-vous à la borne de recharge pour véhicule électrique qui est tout près (N45 29.653 W72 18.610) et répondez à la question suivante: Quel numéro de téléphone faut-il composer pour signaler un problème d'utilisation de cette borne ?

The brilliant inventor's workshop

Towards the end of the 1930s, it was here in this modest workshop that the Autoneige, a multi-passenger vehicle adapted to the Quebec winter, was designed, developed and manufactured. It gave a new boost to the regional, industrial and forestry economy by breaking the isolation of communities cut off from the rest of the world for long months. The Autoneige transformed public transportation, material transport, postal services, ambulance services, rescue services and the transportation of missionaries in the remote regions of the Canadian Far North. It was also used as a vehicle for the installation and maintenance of electrical transmission lines, telephone lines, and at exploration and mining sites.
It was only the embryo of a company that would grow rapidly and become a major innovator in the field of recreational and commercial transportation. First came the invention and refinement of the snowmobile, which became an instant hit. Other recreational products were also developed. The Sea-Doo and Spyder lines are prime examples. Then the young company diversified. It became involved in the manufacture of subway cars and rail transportation. Later, the company spread its wings and became a giant in the aeronautics industry, particularly in the business and commercial aircraft sector. This Quebec flagship has become a world leader in transportation. It plays in the big leagues. None of this would have happened without the inventive, hard work and inspiration of J.-Armand Bombardier, a talented young mechanic, in this modest workshop.
In order to register this Virtual cache as Found you must comply with the following two conditions:
1- You must take a picture of yourself at the coordinates displayed with the workshop in the background. It is not mandatory that your face be visible but a distinctive element must appear for identification purposes. If there is more than one of you, each of you must be identifiable. Take several pictures if necessary. Attach the pictures to your report.
2- Go to the nearby electric vehicle charging station (N45 29.653 W72 18.610) and answer the following question: What phone number should you call to report a problem using this station?
