Reginald's Tower is the oldest civic building in Ireland. It has been in continuous use for over 800 years. A tower was built on this site by the Vikings when they established Waterford in 914 AD. The present tower was built by the Anglo-Normans in the 12th/13th century.
It is now a National Monument and houses an exhibition of Viking Waterford. There is a replica Viking Longboat on display beside the tower. It's modelled on one of the Viking ships found at Roskilde, in Denmark.
