The Old River Control Structure , Built to regulate the amount of water flowing from the Mississippi River into
the Atchafalaya River was completed in 1963, and for the first 10 years, all was good. Then the flood of 1973
severly damaged it, necessating the addition of an Auxiliary structure. Now known as the Old River Control
Complex, it consists of the Auxiliary Structure, the Lower Sill, the upper Sill (over bank structure) and the Murray
Hydro power plant.
In order to log this as a find, you will need to post TWO pictures. One picture must have a sign with your
geocaching user name and the date you visited the site along with the words"Low Sill" in the background, and
the other picture must have a sign with your geocaching user name and the date you visited the site, along
with the words "Auxiliary Structure" in the background.. You may include yourself in the picture, but it
is not required..
