Lygnern 👻 Virtual Cache

Lygnern har en yta på 33 kvadratkilometer och är Hallands största sjö. Den ligger i Kungsbacka och Marks kommuner. Badmöjlighet finns på flera olika ställen runt sjön. Lygnern påstås ha Sveriges renaste vatten. Sjön är 52 meter djup och befinner sig 15 meter över havet.  

Badstränder finns vid Fjärås bräcka, i Sätila och på ett antal andra ställen runt om sjön. Vid sjöns norra strand ligger naturreservaten Oxhagen, Årenäs-Tostekulla lövskogar och Ramhultafallet, och vid den södra Gäddevik.

Vid Fjärås bräcka har Kungsbacka kommun sin dricksvattentäkt. Råvattnet från sjön infiltreras i grusåsen. Förr bedrev Statens Järnvägar (SJ) grustäkt vid Fjärås Bräcka och en 2,8 kilometer lång järnväg anslöt till Västkustbanan vid Fjärås station.

Mellan 1890 och 1924 gjorde ångfartyget S/S Isa dagliga turer över sjön. Numera finns en modernare, eldriven version - Isa af Lygnern - som du sommartid kan ta en tur med på Lygnern.

Lygnern brukades även som flottningsled, i äldre tid användes flottar med träsegel som länsade timret de skogrika trakterna i Mark över Lygnern. Flottningen fortsatte in på 1930-talet, senare med roddbåtar eller bogserlinor.

At Fjärås bräcka, Kungsbacka municipality has its drinking water source. The raw water from the lake is infiltrated into the gravel pit. In the past, Statens Järnvägar (SJ) operated a gravel road at Fjärås Bräcka and a 2.8 kilometer long railway connected to the Västkustbanan at Fjärås station.

Between 1890 and 1924 the steamer S/S Isa made daily trips across the lake. Nowadays there is a more modern, electric version - Isa af Lygnern - which you can take for a ride on Lygnern during the summer.

The Lygnern was also used as a rafting route, in older times rafts with wooden sails were used to haul timber to the wooded areas in Mark over the Lygnern. Rafting continued into the 1930s, later with rowing boats or tow lines.
