The Schoolcraft College Bell Tower resides on the West side of the main campus in Livonia, Michigan, near the Central Lot not far off Haggerty Road: The Bell Tower was constructed in 1964 and stands 90 feet tall. The carillon bells hanging in the tower were purchased by donor Floyd Kehrl for $6,500 and were installed in November 1965. It's considered a proud symbol of Schoolcraft College for students, alumni, staff, and the surrounding community.
The tower has five small bells that came from five different early elementary schools in the College District: Livonia, Northville, Plymouth-Canton, Garden City and Clarenceville.
Starting in December 1972, every year they decorate the tower with several Christmas lights for the holiday. You can even hear Christmas music playing from the tower.
If you're luck enough to be there at the right time, you'll get to hear the bells chime. At the top of each hour it'll start with the small bells then you'll get a nice deep gong from the big bell - once for each hour. The small bells will also chime at 15, 30 and 45 minutes past each hour. No matter how many times I've passed the tower, if it goes off while I'm walking by - I jump
