Marka Rotko mākslas centrs

Slavenākais daugavpilietis Marks Rotko dzimis 1903. gada 25. septembrī, kad pilsētu vēl sauca par Dvinsku. Pašu Marku Rotko sauca par Markusu Rotkeviču. 1913. gadā viņš kopā ar citiem ģimenes locekļiem emigrēja uz ASV. Ebreju pārceļošana no Krievijas impērijas uz ASV tajā laikā bija ļoti izplatīta. Rotko mākslinieka karjeru sāka 1923. gadā Ņujorkā. Izgājis caur dažādiem mākslinieciskajiem stiliem, viņš 40. gadu beigās nonāca līdz raksturīgajām liela formāta gleznām ar lieliem krāsu laukumiem. Rotko kļuva slavens un ir viens no modernās amerikāņu glezniecības simboliem. Marks Rotko mira 1970. gadā Ņujorkā. Mūsdienās viņa darbi izsolēs tiek pārdoti par desmitiem miljonu ASV dolāru.

2013. gadā cietoksnī, bijušajā artilērijas arsenāla ēka, tika atklāts Daugavpils Marka Rotko mākslas centrs. Centrā ir izstādītas Rotko darbu reprodukcijas, bet Rotko darbu oriģināli no Rotko ģimenes kolekcijas ir mainīgā ekspozīcijā. Centra lielāko daļu aizņem dažādas izstādes.

Jums sevī jāatrod radošā dzirksts modernajā mākslā. Lai reģistrētu slēpni kā atrastu, nepieciešams:

1. Apmeklēt slēpņa vietu norādītajās koordinātēs;
2. Radīt modernās mākslas darbu. Instalācijas, performances, mākslas fotogrāfija, mūzika, deja, dzeja un citi mākslas žanri un to kombinācijas ir pieļaujami. Lūdzu turamies 100 m rādiusā no slēpņa koordinātēm;
3. Fiksēt savu darbu fotogrāfijā. Rādīt sevi fotogrāfijā nav obligāti;
4. Pievienot foto “Atrasts” ierakstam. Ja darbs sastāv no teksta, tad arī to var pievienot ierakstam.

Mark Rothko Art Centre

The most famous resident of Daugavpils, Mark Rothko, was born on September 25, 1903, when the city was still called Dvinsk. Mark Rothko himself originally was called Markus Rotkevich. In 1913, he emigrated to the United States together with other family members. Migration of Jews from the Russian Empire to the United States was very common at that time. Rothko began his career as an artist in 1923 in New York. Passing through various artistic styles, he arrived at the characteristic large-format paintings with large areas of colour in the late 1940s. Rothko became famous and is one of the symbols of modern American painting. Mark Rothko died in 1970 in New York. Nowadays his works are sold at auctions for tens of millions of dollars.

In 2013, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre was opened in the fortress, the former artillery arsenal building. The centre displays reproductions of Rothko's works, while Rothko's original works from the Rothko family collection are in changing display. Most of the centre is occupied by various exhibitions.

The task

You need to find your creative spark in contemporary art. To register the cache as found, you need to: 

1. Visit the virtual cache location in the listed coordinates

2. Create a work of contemporary art. Installation, performance, art photography, music, dance, poetry and other art genres and their combinations are allowed. Please stay within a 100m radius from the coordinates of the cache.

3. Fix your work of art in a photo. Showing yourself in the photo is optional.

4. Add the photo to the "Found it" log. If the artwork consists of text, it can also be added to the log.
