English:
Nils Göran Kennet Karlsson, born October 18, 1939 in Gödestad in Varberg municipality, died July 26, 2004 in Köinge in Falkenberg municipality in Halland County, was a Swedish businessman, best known for the yellow discount department store in Ullared.
On Saturday, October 18, 2008, this statue was unveiled to honor the founder of the department store, which is still "going pretty well".
Details of the stay that should be typical of Göran are, for example, the mobile phone in the hand, snus under the lip and the snus box in the back pocket.
Göran Karlsson started the discount department store in the basement of the family's home. Sales consisted mainly of gabardine trousers and cleaning coats. At first, the business did not go so well, but over time, the department store became a phenomenon and the success was a fact. In 1991, Karlsson chose to sell the company to six employees for SEK 130 million. At the time of the sale, a clause was written stating that Karlsson was not allowed to run competing companies for a number of years, but in the event of a settlement, the clause was broken on 1 July 1998.
Göran Karlsson died in 2004 in the suites of cancer (brain tumor).
Göran was very interested in motors; at his death he owned 200 cars and about 100 motorcycles. The collections included several treasures including Excalibur SS Phaeton and Morris Oxford DeLux 4-Dr. The cars were found in his car and motorcycle museum in GÀllared. After his death, the vehicles were moved to Göran Karlsson's Motor Museum in Ullared, which was closed in 2011 due to declining numbers of visitors. In the winter of 2012, the roof of a garage where several of his cars were stored collapsed; several cars were damaged but they were later sold to a new museum just outside Svenljunga.
