Previously housed in the Nanaimo North Town Centre, the Vancouver Island Military Museum moved to it's new quarters in 2012, an ideal location due to its proximity to downtown hotels, restaurants and amenities. Located in Piper Park there is a miners cabin and train which is currently closed off due to nearby construction. For more information about this great museum, you can visit its website at https://militarymuseum.ca/. While it is not necessary to go into the museum for the information, it is well worth a visit if it's open. The volunteers are a great resource and interesting to talk to.
To log this virtual cache go to the front entrance of the museum. There is a sign stating the original name of this museum and the year it was erected. Please send these two pieces of information to us. You can log right away and if there is a problem we will contact you.
Be sure to enjoy the spectacular view of Nanaimo Harbour and post a picture with your log. No spoilers please. Enjoy!
