If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise... well, probably not as this bear has been keeping guard near the car park of Selsdon Nature Reserve since he was carved, with a chainsaw, by Selwyn Smith in 1988. However, this bear is as bare as bear can be.
All the joy has gone from caching for me recently so I wanted to use my Virtual Reward in a way that might bring a smile to people's faces as well as to their map.
My bear photo celebrates the fact that both SonsOfDragons graduated this year and so I have dressed him in the outfit we made for the mock graduation of SonOfDragons in 2020.
PLEASE READ THESE LOGGING REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY! Do not "photoshop" your image.
To claim this virtual you must dress the bear (a single item of clothing is sufficient, we aren't talking a full outfit here!) and take a photo. The photo must also include a piece of paper with your caching name and the date on it, just on the off chance you happen to have already been here to dress the bear and taken a photo.
This photo must be included with your log on the cache, not sent to me.
There is no need to contact me for confirmation that you can log it.
You do not need to be in the photo yourself unless you want to be.
Please do not leave any items on the bear when you have finished.
I can't bear a bare bear so logs without a qualifying photo will be deleted after a 48 hour grace period.
This cache has not been marked as wheelchair accessible but might be possible. It is on grass which is reasonably flat and close to the car park (which has one disabled bay). It can get muddy when wet though and the bear is quite tall - you might be able to wrap a sarong/scarf round his nether regions though!
This cache is available at all times but not all gates are always open - there is always access from the Baker Boy Lane footpath but this is the furthest from the cache.
