
On August 30, 1875 Charles DuBois selected the site of the Intitial Point and marked it with a "mound of stone 6 feet in diameter at the baseby 4 feet high, with a stone 20 x 12 x 10 on the top marked I.P. 1875.

With Initial Point established , DuBois surveyed and marked the meridian line north 6 miles to the base of the Uintah Mountains and 17 miles south to the Reserve boundary. DuBois then extended and marked a base line 6 miles east and west. This was the beginning of the survey of The Reservation land.
