Geocache Description:

Floral Compass.

The Floral Compass monument is located in Dieppe Gardens along the Windsor, Ontario riverfront. This unassuming triangular masonry creation highlights unique geographical knowledge. The bronze plaque here states the following: "THE GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION OF THE U.S.A. AT THIS POINT LIES DUE NORTH OF CANADA". During the warmer months the monument is planted with flowers and shrubbery in the shape of the compass arrow. Interestingly, Detroit is the only major U.S. city that lies north of Canada (outside Alaska that is!).

Logging Requirements.
In order to log this virtual, you must message/email wiji (see profile for email) the answers to the following questions:

1. To validate that you are indeed standing south of Detroit, set your GPSr to the reference point for Hart Plaza in Detroit (N 42° 19.627 W 083° 02.642). Place your GPSr at the apex of the triangle (see inset photo as example) and note the bearing (N,S,E,W) and distance to the reference point. Provide these readings in your message.

2. The half-circle garden portion of the monument is surrounded by a series of rectangular stone bricks. Count how many of the stone bricks are exposed and include this number in your message.

3. OPTIONAL - Take a photo of your GPSr/phone or yourself/team with the Detroit skyline in the background. You can include this photo in your log.
