The Remember Me Rose Garden was created as a living memorial for the crew and passengers of Flight 93 who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. ThIs land was purchased by familiy members of Flight 93 and then donated for the construction of a rose garden. Many volunenteers put a lot of hard time and sweat into the garden making it an absoulte beautiful and peaceful area to stop, visit and reflect. Even in the winter months without all the roses and wildflowers this area is a great stop to make.
At the center of the garden there are 40 rocks engraved with each of the names of the Flight 93 Heroes that surounds a 30 foot fountain. This layout is the form of a large compass design that spans a distance of 280 feet and is visible to planes flying overhead. There is also a wheelchair accessible walking trail that was headed by the late Ryan Cenk as his Eagle Scout project.
The Remember Me Rose Garden is now the new home to a large wooden cross that was first erected at the temporary memorial in 2001. When the National Park service took over the ground of the temporary memorial the cross was removed since no religious symbols were allowed. Since the Remember Me Rose Garden is not part of the National Park it was placed here to be displayed without any issues. The cross sits in the center around a circle of rocks. One of these rocks has debris from the plane that was gathered from the crash site set in place by mortar.
