Extra Fun...

Insider Info

Nearby the park, the historic Rum River Regional Trail intersects with the Mississippi River Trail in Anoka.

The Rum River spillway, upstream of the Main Street bridge next to Anoka City Hall, is a good fishing spot and is wheelchair accessible.

The park has some floating docks on the Mississippi for boat access that are also usable for fishing.

Fun Facts

The Rum River was used by the Dakota people, Ojibwe people and many early European explorers, and later carried logs to the Mississippi River.

Peninsula Point was once a sewage treatment plant. In 1995, with a grant from the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources, the city of Anoka began to administer the area and turned it into the beautiful Peninsula Point Two Rivers Historical Park.

The park has been nationally recognized for its design and incorporation of historic elements. Stone from the original 1850’s St. Paul County Courthouse are integrated into the landscaping.
