Geocache Description:

Spring won't come, the need of strife
To struggle to be freed from the hard ground
The evenings mists thad creep and crawl
Will drench me in dew and so drown
Don't be afraid as she pulled down the shade.

I'm the green man
The green man

Peter Ratajczyk or Peter Steele as his fans knew him, was a musician, singer and songwriter. He was known for creating the bands Fallout, Carnivore and Type O Negative. Peter was a 6'7" giant with a vampiric appearance, rich bass vocals and a dark sense of humor. His lyrics were often personal, dealing with subjects like love, loss and addiction. The music he wrote was influenced by Black Sabbath and The Beatles. He passed away April 14, 2010 at the age of 48, from heart failure.

Peter was born on January 4th, 1962 in Brooklyn NY, the youngest of 6 children and the only boy. He started taking guitar lessons at age 12, but moved to bass a few months later. Peter was left handed, but only played right handed bass throughout his career, as left handed was to expensive at the time. He taught himself how to play. He had a jobs with the New York Parks and Sanitation department and wore a green uniform and rode a green garbage truck. His nickname became The Green Man. The color green followed him throughout his music career, with green and black being the primary colors in all the bands logos, art, equipment, clothing and much more.

Peter formed the metal band Fallout in 1979 and the thrash metal band Carnivore in 1982-1987. In 1989, Peter formed another band with his childhood friend. They went through a few names, but settled on Type O Negative after hearing a radio advertisement requesting donations of type O negative blood. TON was known for its dark doom-like sound, with lyrics focusing on romance, depression and death resulting in the nickname "the Drab Four" in homage to the Beatles "Fab Four" moniker. The band went gold and platinum and gained a fanbase through 7 studio albums, 2 best of compilations and concert DVDs. Type O Negative broke up after Peter's death.
