The Everson is a museum of firsts. It was the first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art, to create a permanent collection of ceramics, to collect video art, to create a docent program and to hire the now internationally-known architect I.M. Pei to design its building, a sculptural work of art in its own right. The Everson is home to more than 10,000 works of art: American paintings, sculpture, drawings, video, graphics and one of the largest holdings of international ceramics in the nation. It is also the location of my first virtual cache, thanks to the teamajk who generously transferred hers to me.
The idea of this virtual is to introduce cachers to some of the outdoor sculptures here. The coords will bring you to the back of the museum, where you will be able to see several sculptures. The area has free access during museum hours, as well as free parking at the parking coords. There may be changes to the sculptures on display, as only a few are permanent instalations. Please post a picture of yourself or your name card with one of the sculptures fully visible. Your face is not required in the picture, but if it is not shown, the picture must include a sign with your caching name. Although the museum does have some night time hours, the picture should only be taken during daylight hours. Group submissions are acceptable but all people must be in the picture, or all caching names should show. I'm very nearsighted so make sure I can see them! Extra credit for providing additional pictures of other sculptures at the Everson.
