Shortly after leaving Brisbane on our adventure into north and west Queensland, we were offered the opportunity from GC Headquarters to place a Virtual. It was a perfect time for us to consider so many options, as the State of Qld certainly isn’t short on beauty and wondrous places, and our travel bags were packed.
Carnarvon Gorge had always been on our bucket list, and its location and what we saw on our explorations, certainly did not disappoint. It was outstanding, and worth the drive and effort to arrive in this remote and unique location.
We saw many 2-wheel drives in the caravan park, as the trip is bitumen the entire way. To complete all the walks, a 3-5 day stay is recommended, depending on the challenges you seek.
This Virtual is placed on top of Boolimba Gorge, so you will need to earn the smiley, with a lovely walk up from the bottom of the gorge to the top.

Approval has been confirmed from South West Region, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships, who have stated that a Virtual Geocache is acceptable in the park.

To earn this smiley, you need to make your way to GZ, and then take a photo (selfie) of you and/or your GPS with your caching name clearly in the photo, showing the vista across the gorge into the distance with your log. This must be posted with your log.
If your caching name is not included in the photo, your log will be deleted.
