Salam Derby Wharf Light Station. The Derby Wharf Light Station was constructed in 1871 to better assist ships entering Salem Harbor. The lighthouse features a unique square design, and is only about 20 feet tall. The interior of the lighthouse is not open to the public, however the exterior is accessible via a scenic walk to the end of Derby Wharf.
Our granddaugther, HoagiesThe3rd, discovered Lighthouses during her visit to Cape Cod this summer. She LOVES them! When we visited Salam, we hiked out to this light station and brought her with us via video call. She got to "touch" the little lighthouse. She loved it!
But there was no cache here, and I've got a Virual Reward, so... this looks like the perfect place.
Requirements:
1. Count the number of complete (side view, not end view) fully painted bricks in the first full row on the harbor side of the light station, while standing on the wharf tip.
2. As you return to the land end of the wharf, you are facing two famous buildings: the Custom House, and to the left of it, a house with a metal sign on the second floor stating "Home..." Please provide who it was a home for, and what year it was presented by whom.
3. Provide a picture at the Salem Derby Wharf Light Station. It could be a selfie with the light station, a pic of your GPS, or a pic of a paper with your geocaching name.
Send requirements via Geocaching Message (I'm lousy at emails).
