Geocache Description:

Mtskheta is an ancient picturesque city at the confluence of the two rivers, Mtkvari and Aragvi. Currently a rather small town and a popular tourist attraction, Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities in Georgia and former capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia (from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD).

On the mountain across the river Aragvi you can see the Jvari monastery (Monastery of the Cross), founded in the 6th century on the place, where by the legend a wooden cross was erected by Saint Nino, female evangelist who brought christianity to Georgia. Jvari was listed together with other monuments of Mtskheta in 1994 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Especialy from the top of Jvari mount, where are several good viewpoints, one can see how different are the waters of Mtkvari and Aragvi, two sister rivers, and how do they mix. But you can log the cache from any of the river banks where the river confluence is clearly visible (the possible places are listed in the waypoints).

To log the cache please

  • post the photo on which you repeat the shape of the confluence of rivers with the shape of your hand (with or without your face, as you wish, but the rivers and the gesture must be present).
  • it would be nice if you add to your log your favourite poem (or a fragment of poem) where any water source is mentioned (river, sea, fountain, broken tap, whatever) - in any language

The logs that do not meet the requirements won't be accepted.

(here is a kind of example of a log photo to be done)
