Vattnet skulle tas frĂ„n rullstensĂ„sen utefter Viskans dalgĂ„ng, men ibland kom Ă€ven orenat vatten frĂ„n Ă„n in i systemet.

BorĂ„s ' most famous silhouette has aged over a century. The water tower was inaugurated on July 1, 1900 and was then in use until the end of the 1960s.  When the tower was built, BorĂ„s was in a very expansive phase and the old waterworks at Pickesjön could no longer cope with the need. This had been constructed in 1881 and the water was led by self-pressure to a reservoir in Annelundsparken. The engineer Gustaf Richert designed a proposal with a waterworks at ÅlgĂ„rden and a high reservoir on Kvarnberget, 47 m higher. The water was to be taken from the Pebble graveyard along the Valley of Viskan, but sometimes unpurified water from the river also entered the system. The plant, together with the old one from Lake Pickesjön, would be enough for 40,000 inhabitants. The mill at ÅlgĂ„rden was changed to pumphus. The fire department needed a slightly higher pressure and the plant was supplemented with a 13 m high standpipe, which explains the need for a tower. The water reservoir itself is blasted into the mountain and holds 780 kbm. From 1923 the plant at ÅlgĂ„rden was supplemented so that it could also receive river water, which was quickly filtered and sterilized with chlorine. The widow Maria Hedin (Lyckan) sold land for 10,000 SEK and the bookkeeper Börjesson for 2,000 SEK on Kvarnberget. Erik Josephson was hired as architect. He had a great interest in defense buildings, which can explain the appearance of the water tower. The master builder Martin Johansson undertook to build the reservoir for SEK 20,000 and the covered Castle for SEK 25,000.
