This virtual takes you to a 10 1/2 feet long, sculpture of a panther. The pure bronze sculpture was done by Miriani Guido in Parma, Italy. The panther is the namesake and mascot of the University of Pittsburgh. This particular statue was installed in 2001; and a time capsule to be opened in the year 2051 was buried beneath it. The project cost $72,000 and was installed to welcome in a new millennium. Students, alumni, and fans rub the nose of the Millennium Panther in order to bring good luck to the university's teams prior to athletic contests.
This geocache doesn't have a container to look for. Instead, to get credit for this virtual cache, your log must include a photo of the panther... with or without your smiling face!
