On the morning of September 18, 2013, OC Transpo double-decker bus No. 8017, operating as Express Route 76, was traveling from Barrhaven to downtown Ottawa along the transitway.
At 8:48 AM, the OC Transpo bus collided with VIA Rail Train 51, en route to Toronto.
The end result of the collision was six fatalities and thirty four injured passengers.
This memorial park was created to honour the six individuals who lost their lives as a result of this terrible collision.
