Towers Hill
Gold was discovered in the early 1870's near the base of Towers Hill. Since then the area has been mined, used for water supply, military storage in WW2, telecommunications and tourism.
Towers Hill Lookout over looks the town from the top of Towers Hill Road. Cachers can drive to the lookout between 6am and 8:30 pm, or walk up anytime. There is van parking near the turnoff to Towers Hill Road.
There are facilites up here and a view over the town. You can take some time to admire the view and read the historical information boards. The sign near the carpark and access ramp displays some of the other interesting spots on the hill. You may even spot a wallaby or 3, particularly later in the day.
