Sen. John Glenn the Orbitor
This is the home that Senator John Glenn grew up in. Here in this little town of New Concord. He was first know for his days serving his country via the Marine Core Avial units. He flew over 100 flight missions during the WWII and Korean wars. He was an excellent pilot and had a facination with the air and skies at a young age.
Perhaps what he was best known for was being the first American Astronaut to orbit the Earth which he made 3 rotation. After that the goal was to land in the Ocean whch he did successfully. He performed this triumphant feat Feb. 20, 1962. He stayed on at NASA for sometime then Bobby Kennedy talked him into running for Congress. He was finially elected to serve as A democratic senator for his home state of Ohio.
His accomplishments are vastly known. Again they could not keep him out of space. John Hershel Glenn Jr. would become the world's oldest astronaut into outer space at the nice ripe age of 77. Imagine that one for a moment or two. He tried to run for President in 1984 but was unsuccessful.
He retired from the Marines with the satus of Colonel in 1964.Then after the space expoits in 1974 he was elected to the House of the Senate.
