On Dikeos Mountain above Zia is the historical chapel from 1079, dedicated to Dikeos Christos.
Dikeos Mountain: Dikeos is the highest mountain of Kos, the highest peak is 846 meters (almost 2 800 feet). Dikeos is located about 15 kilometers south of Kos Town. On the northern slopes of Dikeos you will find Zia, the most picturesque village on the island. The southern slopes are steep and bare, while the northern slopes drop gradually and are covered with forests.
The easiest ascent is from the mountain village of Zia (about 300 m) and takes about 1 ½ to 2 hours at a leisurely walk. The path is partially signposted. In the lower part there are always blue arrows for orientation, in the upper part of the trail there are red arrows, dots and crosses on the rocks.
The other possibility for the ascent is from Palio Pyli. There you can also visit Old Pyli Castle and Old Pyli in advance.
It is necessary to be surefooted, to wear good shoes and to have a head for heights. Due to the wind hitting the island and the steep mountain range on the southern flank, the air can cool down considerably and rapid cloud formation is possible. In midsummer, it is best to complete the climb early in the morning.

Auf dem Berg Dikeos oberhalb von Zia befindet sich die historische Kapelle aus dem Jahr 1079, die dem Dikeos Christos gewidmet ist.
Dikeos Berg: Dikeos ist der höchste Berg von Kos, der höchste Gipfel ist 846 Meter (fast 2 800 Fuß). Dikeos liegt etwa 15 Kilometer südlich von Kos Stadt. An den nördlichen Hängen von Dikeos finden Sie Zia, das malerischste Dorf der Insel. Die Südhänge sind steil und kahl, die Nordhänge fallen allmählich ab und sind mit Wäldern bedeckt.
Der einfachste Aufstieg erfolgt vom Bergdorf Zia (etwa 300 m) aus und dauert bei gemütlicher Gehweise etwa 1 ½ bis 2 Stunden. Der Weg ist teilweise ausgeschildert. Im unteren Bereich befinden sich zur Orientierung immer wieder blaue Pfeile, im oberen Bereich des Wanderweges rote Pfeile, Punkte und Kreuze an den Felsen.
Die andere Möglkichkeit für den Auftieg ist von Palio Pyli aus. Dort kann man auch im Vorfeld das Old Pyli Castle und Old Pyli besichtigen.
Es ist Trittfestigkeit und gutes Schuhwerk erforderlich und Schwindelfreiheit. Bedingt durch den auf die Insel und den an der südlichen Flanke steilen Gebirgszug auftreffenden Wind, kann die Luft stark abkühlen und rasche Wolkenbildung ist möglich. Im Hochsommer sollte der Aufstieg am besten früh am Morgen absolviert werden.
