Höyhen on mäkihyppääjä Matti Nykäsen kunniaksi pystytetty taideteos Hippoksen Köyhälammen rannalla Jyväskylässä. Taideteokseen kuuluu portaittainen jalusta, muistolaatta sekä jalustan päällä oleva höyhentä muistuttava veistos. Höyhenen muoto rakentuu useista vierekkäisistä suksenkaltaisista osista. Näihin sivusuksiin on lasermerkattu teksteinä Nykäsen urheilusaavutukset. Suksia on yhteensä 42 eli yksi jokaista voittoa kohden. Höyhenen keskiruodot mukailevat mäkihyppyrin kaarta ja muodostavat yhdessä ”ladun”. Ladun huipulla on Nykäsen ensimmäisiä suksia muistuttavat ja toisaalta viimeistä hyppyä symboloivat sukset suuntautuneena kohti taivasta. Suunta huipulta ylöspäin antaa mielikuvan lentämisestä pois tästä maailmasta, kohti toista ulottuvuutta.
Muistomerkin jalustaan liitettyyn, kiillotetusta mustasta graniitista toteutettuun laattaan on piirrosmaisesti kaiverrettu nuoren Matti Nykäsen kasvot. Muistolaatan olympiarenkaat on kullattu suomalaisella lehtikullalla. Muistomerkin ympärillä on päällystetty, lammen rantaan rajautuva aukio.
Muistomerkin on suunnitellut ja toteuttanut kuvataiteilija Kaarina Kaikkonen.
Kirjataksesi tämän virtuaalikätkön mene annettuihin koordinaateihin ja ota kuva itsestäsi (kasvojesi ei tarvitse näkyä) tai jostain henkilökohtaisesta esineestäsi siten, että muistomerkki näkyy kuvassa. Koko monumentin sijaan kuvassa voi olla myös jokin tunnistettava yksityiskohta monumentista. Galleriassa on pari esimerkkikuvaa.
Liitä kuva kirjaukseesi. Vaihtoehtoisesti voit lähettää kuvan kätkön tekijälle esim. viestikeskuksen kautta. Lupaa kirjaukseen ei tarvitse tässä tapauksessa odottaa, olen yhteydessä tarvittaessa. Ilman vaadittua kuvaa lähetetyt kirjaukset tullaan poistamaan.

Höyhen ("feather") is a artwork created in honor of hill jumper Matti Nykänen on the banks of Köyhälammi in Hippos in Jyväskylä. The artwork includes a stepped plinth, a commemorative plaque and a feather-like sculpture on top of the plinth. The shape of the feather is made up of several adjacent ski-like parts. Nykänen's sporting achievements are laser-marked as text on these skis. There are 42 skis in total, i.e. one for each win. The center rods of the feather adapt to the curve of the ski jumping hill and together form a "track". At the top of the slope, there are skis pointing towards the sky that resemble Nykänen's first skis and on the other hand symbolize the last jump. The direction upwards gives the impression of flying away from this world, towards another dimension.
The face of the young Matti Nykänen is graphically engraved on the polished black granite slab attached to the base of the monument. The Olympic rings on the commemorative plaque are gilded with Finnish gold leaf. Around the monument is a paved square bordering the pond.
The monument is designed by visual artist Kaarina Kaikkonen.
To log this virtual cache, go to the given coordinates and take a picture of yourself (your face does not have to be visible) or of some of your personal items so that the monument is visible in the picture. Instead of whole monument, the picture may also have some recognizable detail of the monument. There are a couple of example pictures in the gallery.
Attach the picture to your log. Alternatively, you can send the picture to the cache owner via message center. Logs sent without a picture will be deleted.
