Corona Arch and Pinto arch arenatural sandstone arches near Moab, Utah in a side canyon of the Colorado River west of Moab in Grand County, Utah, United States. Corona arch can be accessed via a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) hiking trail (Corona Arch Trail) from Utah State Route 279 (Potash Road). Pinto arch can be reached by a trail from halfway the trail up to Corona arch. Addind a similar distance to your hike. The arch is located within the same rock formation as Pinto Arch and Bowtie Arch.
When I wanted to visit Arches NP it was quite busy and initially entering the park was not possible due to timed tickets. So I went discovering the area around the NP and soon found out one of the most beautiful arches is not within the park boundaries where tickets are required. It is open to everyone and known as Corona Arch.
The pinto arch and corona arch are quite different. But also share a lot in common. With this cache you can find out more about that. But most of all you can enjoy these wonders of nature.
Trail Map

The cache assignments:
- Take a picture of yourself or "your hand with your cachename written on a piece of paper" with the Corona arch while being level with the arch. This means The arch has to be well visible around you or around the piece of paper. So not an image taken from a plane, helicopter or with binoculars from far away... You have to experience the arch so take the picture from within lets say 0.1 mile or 160 meters. Standing to close might make it hard to get the arch in view.
- Take a picture of yourself or "your hand with your cachename written on a piece of paper" with the Pinto arch. Take also this picture somewhere close to the arch.
- Send me an e-mail describing the differences between the two arches. No need to wait for a reply.
- You may log straight away. Post the two required images with your log.
Cautions
- Especially during hot days the hike to both locations can be quite demanding for some people as there is quite a bit of elevation gain.
- Stay on the official trails!
- Do not wander of the trails.
