Welcome to The Hendel Building. At only 5 feet 2 inches wide, it is one of the narrowest commercial buildings in the world, and for this reason it is commonly referred to as the “Skinny Building.”
The buildings narrow lot was created in 1903 by a street widening project on Diamond Way (Now Forbes Ave) and the building itself was constructed in 1926 by Louis Hendel.
While opinions vary concerning the reason it was built, the most widely accepted version is that after Mr Hendel’s neighboring business owners complained about him obstructing the sidewalk with his fruit-selling business, he constructed the building on the narrow lot to spite them.

Due to the building's impractical dimensions, the second and third floors have not seen much use, but the ground floor has housed a number of different businesses including a popular lunch counter. Recently acquired by a local financial company, the buildings future function is currently not known, but suffice to say, given its historic designation, it will likely be here for a long time to come.

At the posted coordinates you will find yourself across the street diagonal to the Skinny Building.
It blends in with the Roberts building behind it, but you can definitely see its outline from this vantage point, especially since its recent makeover.
Logging requirement:
Post a photo of yourself with the Skinny Building in the background. If you do not wish to show your face, a photo containing your gps, travel bug, body part, or any other item unique to you will suffice.
If you do not have the ability to take a photo, send me the writing stamped on top of the nearby fire hydrant while looking down on it.
Congrats DreadPirateWestley for FTF.
