Geocache Description:

The Holdingford Covered Bridge is the longest covered bridge in Minnesota at 186 feet.  It was built by the Holdingford Lions Club in 2008 with support from local businesses and clubs. People can walk, run, bike, and snowmobile through it.  Every spring a few hundred runners pass through this bridge as they make their way from Holdingford to St. Joseph while running the Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon.  Look for plaques inside the bridge with interesting stories about the history of Holdingford.

Very near the bridge there is a metal sculpture that shows scenes of life in Holdingford, including saw mills, Minnesota 13, farming, and the Soo Line Railroad.

Parking is available one quarter mile from the bridge at the trailhead.  The trailhead has a restroom, boxcar mural, wooden train play area for kids, and picnic tables. If you bring bikes along, you can bike on the Lake Wobegon Trail.  The nearest town south of Holdingford is Albany, which is 9.4 miles one way.  To the north of Holdingford 3.5 miles away is the county line, where the trail becomes the Soo Line Trail.  The nearest town north of Holdingford is Bowlus, which is 7.5 miles one way.  Another 3.5 miles past Bowlus the trail goes right past the interesting and beautiful Blanchard Dam on the Mississippi River.

To get credit for this find include pictures from the bridge, nearby sculptures, or trailhead as part of your log.  You do not have to include yourself in the pictures.
