Geocache Description:

The home opener for the Tigers is Detroit's unofficial holiday.  People from all around the area take off work and school and travel into the city to take in the sights and sounds.  The streets are alive with a tremendous energy and sense of community.  Restaurants are packed, people are tailgaiting and the news crews are always present to capture the activity.  It really doesn't matter how the Tigers are expected to perform during the year, a home opener ticket is a difficult one to secure.  We have been to many opening days both at Tiger Stadium and Comerica Park and never fail to have a great time, regardless of the outcome of the game.

The posted coordinates will bring you to the 15 foot tall tiger sculpture in front of the western entrance.  You do not need to go into the stadium to get the answers, it is available at all times.  Parking can be hard to come by depending on the day, but there is street parking nearby and the parking lot just south of the stadium allows the first 15 minutes free (as of the time of this writing) on non-game days.

This area is great for photos and we encourage you to post your pics at the site but any logs containing pics giving away answers will be deleted (it won't be hard to get a pic that does not give answers away).   We would also love to hear opening day stories in your logs, both from Tiger fans and any visitors with their local club.  To log the cache, you need to message the answers to 2 questions.  Logs without the answers will be deleted after 7 days.

1.  At the posted coordinates you will be standing under the tiger's raised left paw.  Look down at the square brick at the corner.  Message the name of the Tigers infielder that we briefly watched play during the 1980s (once you discover the name, look him up on Google later - he was an interesting character).

2. At virtual stage 2, which is only a few yards away, there is a large baseball bat with lights surrounding it.  Message the name of the manufacturer of the light covers.
