Geocache Description:

The history of the Port of Rønne

Rønne grew up around good, natural harbor conditions in the Middle Ages in the 11th and 13th centuries. The harbor came to be of great importance for Bornholm and Rønne in particular. The port has for many years meant that Rønne city and Bornholm have been able to grow.

Over the years, the port has been expanded and more and more ships have been added, and today Rønne Havne is the only port on Bornholm that has a connection to the outside world and more than 3000 ships docked at the port each year.

One is that the areas where the port has been developed are in connection with the large wind turbine parks that are being built in the Baltic Sea, and with the prospects for more wind turbine parks in the Baltic Sea, the port will also have a great importance for Rønne in the future.

The church was built on a brink above the sea cane with a good view of one of the island's best entrances and thus the church also became a landmark for the entrance for the ships calling at Rønne.

To log this cache you must (from around the coordinates) take a photo of Rønne Harber. You, your finger or something with your geocachingname on it must be visible on the photo.
